Herpes Symptoms

Herpes Symptoms can vary from person to person. Some people infected with the virus (carriers) never even have outbreaks of the common herpes signs. So what are the common symptoms of herpes and are you infected with the virus?

Am I Infected With The Herpes Virus?

Being infected with the herpes virus is no picnic. I myself have suffered from herpes since I was a toddler back in the 80s. So I have live with the virus for quite some time now and know loads about the virus and what it feels and looks like. Ovsiously, the best way to identify if you are truly infected with the herpes virus is to see your primary care physician. There are herpes blood tests that can be done to see which strain of the virus you are infected with.

Herpes Simplex I, also known as cold sores, is most commonly found on the or around the mouth. So I will stick with the symptoms found there. Most of the time, infected people can tell when they are going to have an outbreak. People often compain of:

• Tingling Lips
  
• Fever or hot spot on the lips

I personally know that if my lips are tingling that I am at risk for an outbreak. Remember, the virus stays in your nervous system, so you can feel when something isn't right. Often, when you feel tingling, that does not mean you are going to have an outbreak. I find that when I get tingling I am often able to avoid and outbreak with some over the counter topical creams and a good night's sleep.

If you feel a warm spot on your lips (why cold sores are sometimes called fever blister), then you are likely to have an outbreak of blisters in the next few hours. Starting to medicate at this point can help reduce symptoms but will not stop the outbreak.

The blisters will form on or around you mouth. These will look like crops of small zits (the herpes rash) at first that will then combined into one or multiple larger blisters. The blisters will often itch and/or burn. It is best not to touch the blisters and do not pop them! I once popped a cold sore that I thought was a zit and I had the worst outbreak of my life. I had basically spread the virus all over my lip. The best thing to do is to get some medication that helps reduce these herpes symptoms.

Genital Herpes - Herpes Simplex II Symptoms

Herpes Simplex II also known as genital herpes is very uncomfortable due to the location on very sensative tissue. I have heard from people that are infected with the virus that it is was than oral herpes. Symptoms usually develop 3-7 days after skin to skin contact.

The blisters are not always painful, but they can be in some persons. It can also burn when you urinate depending on what stage the blisters are in. Vaginal discharge can be caused by genital herpes if they are found inside the vagina. Genital herpes can also spread towards the anus. This is more likely in woman due to the close proximity of the anus and the vagina.
